STELALYMPICS or STELOVELYMPICS?: STELA Department Celebrates Valentine’s Day with Games and Sports

Forget the usual roses and love letters – this year, the University of Baguio’s STELA department celebrated Valentine’s Day with energy and enthusiasm at STELALYMPICS!

The University of Baguio Cardinals Gym was alive with excitement on February 14th as the STELA department hosted its annual STELALYMPICS event. The Valentine’s Day celebration combined fun, games, and competition, making for a memorable day for both students and faculty.

The event aimed to foster camaraderie and provide a platform for interaction outside the classroom. More than just an event, STELALYMPICS was a chance to connect with everyone from different programs within the department. Whether cheering from the bleachers, strategizing, or just laughing, it was all about togetherness. This shared experience built bonds that make the STELA department a real community.

Participants were randomly assigned to one of four Valentine’s-themed teams: BEBE LABS, ASAWA Q, MY ONLY 1, and HONEYBUNCH SUGARPLUM. Students and faculty showed their team spirit in color-coded attire, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The random assignments encouraged interaction and teamwork within the STELA community.

Under the banner of “Games and Sports to Celebrate Valentine’s Day,” organizers curated a dynamic program. The morning featured Squid Game-inspired challenges, such as Dalgona and Red Light Green Light, along with Box Roller, Box Race, and a mathematically enhanced Boat is Sinking. The afternoon was dedicated to high-energy basketball and volleyball showdowns featuring talented students and faculty.

At the end of the day, team MY ONLY 1 emerged as the overall champion. But really, everyone who participated in the event was a winner!

STELALYMPICS proved that Valentine’s Day can be about more than just romance. It’s about friendship, fun, and making memories that will last a lifetime. The STELA department definitely made this Valentine’s Day one to remember!
