In a display of exceptional performance, an instructor from the University of Baguio School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (UB-STELA) Psychology Department was awarded the Fr. Jaime Carlos Bulatao, SJ Award for the Teaching of Psychology.
The award was bestowed by the Psychological Association of the Philippines at the Baguio Convention Center last September 26, 2024. The award aims to recognize exceptional teaching methods in the field of psychology, being presented to individuals who embody the teaching ideals of Fr. Bulatao. Affectionately referred to as Fr. Bu by his friends and students, Fr. Jaime Bulatao was a Filipino Jesuit priest, psychologist, and founder of the Department of Psychology of Ateneo de Manila. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of psychology in the country, going on to co-found the Psychological Association of the Philippines and the Philippine Guidance and Personnel Association.
The Psychological Association of the Philippines and the Professional Organization for Registered Psychometricians and Psychologists of the Professional Regulation Commission are the awarding bodies for this particular honor. This year’s awarding ceremony took place during the PAP Fellowship Night which was held during the PAP Convention at the Baguio Convention Center.
“It has been almost two months, but I am thrilled to share that I have been chosen as this year’s recipient of the Fr. Jaime Bulatao, SJ Award for the Teaching of Psychology. It is an immense privilege to be recognized for fostering a passion for learning and embodying the teaching ideals of Fr. Bulatao. This achievement would not have been possible without your collective support and trust in my capabilities.”
