As its first major event of the school year, the Politis Organization brought the University of Baguio Bachelor of Arts in Political Science (BAPS) students and faculty together on August 27, 2026, at FGB Hall, F Building, University of Baguio, for a day of seminars and team-building activities designed to widen students’ opportunities for career and personal development while fostering a stronger sense of togetherness within the program.
The whole-day program featured two seminars in the morning, followed by an indoor team-building activity. Through these activities, students had opportunities to gain practical knowledge, explore potential career paths, strengthen essential skills, and build connections with their fellow Political Science students.
Career Navigation and Opportunity Setting: 2026 Seminar and Team-Building
The first seminar, Career-Pathing Roundtable Discussion facilitated by Ms. Marianne Basoyang, provided students with a clearer picture of the career opportunities available to them as Political Science graduates. Rather than limiting students to a single professional path, the session encouraged them to consider the different directions their degree could take them and to be more intentional about preparing for their future careers. The discussion also gave students an opportunity to reflect on their interests and goals as they continue their journey in the BAPS program. By gaining a better understanding of possible career paths, students were given a broader perspective on the opportunities available to them beyond the university.
This was followed by Ms. Cristine P. Andayan’s discussion on “Building Confidence, Communication, and Collaboration among BAPS Students,”. Emphasizing the importance of confidence and effective communication, particularly in speaking and writing. These skills are essential for Political Science students, whose future careers may require them to express ideas clearly, engage in discussions, communicate with diverse audiences, and work collaboratively with others.

From learning about their future careers to developing skills they can use in and beyond the classroom, the seminars provided students with takeaways that complemented their academic learning.
The Politis officers led an indoor team-building activity in the afternoon, shifting the emphasis from education to active engagement. Eager students participated in a variety of games and tasks that called for quick thinking, collaboration, and teamwork; students from different year levels came together for the activities, which also encouraged them to work with people they might not normally interact with. Through the games, students showed that they could work together, encourage one another, and contribute to a shared objective.
More than simply providing an opportunity for students to have fun, the team-building activities reinforced the value of working together, an important quality not only within the BAPS program but also in the various professional environments students may eventually enter.

The day’s activities culminated in a community dance, bringing the students together once again in a shared display of unity and harmony. With everyone moving as one, the dance served as a fitting conclusion to a program that sought to strengthen not only individual skills but also the relationships among members of the BAPS community.
As the organization’s first event of the school year, the program set the tone for the year, centered on growth, opportunity, and connection. By combining career-oriented discussions with skills development and team-building, the activities provided students with spaces to prepare for their future while strengthening the sense of community within the Political Science program.
