BAGUIO CITY — Creativity, collaboration, and pedagogical mastery took center stage as pre-service teachers of the University of Baguio gathered for Scholastic Confluence 2026, held on March 14 at the Centennial Hall and Centennial AVR.
Organized by the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) through its E.L.I.T.E. organization, the one-day academic event brought together students from the BSEd, BEED, and BPEd programs in a dynamic showcase of teaching skills and innovation. Designed as a fusion of theory and practice, the event transformed the venue into an interactive learning hub where future educators demonstrated their readiness for real classroom challenges.
Training Ground for Future Teachers
In her opening remarks, BSEd Program Chair Dr. Dahlia A. Soriano encouraged students to treat the event as a preparation for their professional journey. STELA Dean Dr. Antonio D. Mangaliag reinforced this, emphasizing that effective educators in the modern classroom must embody creativity, communication, and teamwork.
E.L.I.T.E. adviser, Dr. Sabrina Ramos, shared that the program evolved from a purely literary competition into a broader academic platform integrating linguistic, literary, and pedagogical competencies. She highlighted that Scholastic Confluence was designed to allow students to translate theoretical knowledge into practical application.
Dynamic Competitions and Activities
Participants engaged in five major competitions that tested their creativity, collaboration, and teaching proficiency:
- Streak Chain Wall, where teams constructed coherent sentences under time pressure
- Scene Transformation, featuring dramatic interpretations of assigned scenarios
- Literary Artifact Curation, showcasing symbolic representations of literary works using recycled materials
- TeachCraft, highlighting innovative instructional materials
- Pedagolympics, focusing on teaching demonstrations and classroom management
The activities simulated real-life teaching situations, pushing students to think critically, adapt quickly, and work effectively as a team.
House Lumen emerged as the overall champion, followed by House Ignis and House Lumina.
Among the highlights:
- House Ignis dominated Scene Transformation with a compelling performance.
- House Lumen secured victory in Streak Chain Wall through strong teamwork.
- House Radiance excelled in Literary Artifact Curation, demonstrating depth in literary interpretation.
- The Infinity Cube Group won TeachCraft with an innovative, interactive instructional material for Mathematics.
- Shyne Ryn Camdas topped Pedagolympics, impressing judges with her engaging and effective teaching demonstration.
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Participants described the event as both challenging and enriching. Many shared that the experience helped them step out of their comfort zones, build confidence, and refine their teaching skills.
