BEACON Forward: Empowering Future Educators for LEPT Success

With the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) fast approaching, future educators from the University of Baguio gathered for an inspiring seminar titled “BEACON Forward: Empowering Future Educators for LEPT Success.” The event, held on March 7, 2026, at the UB Centennial Library, was designed to equip fourth-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) and Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) students with practical strategies and motivation as they prepare for one of the most important milestones in their teaching careers.

The seminar featured Mr. Darthon Q. Ventura, LPT, a proud BSED English alumnus from Batch 2025, who shared his personal journey of preparing for and successfully passing the licensure examination. As a recent passer, Ventura connected deeply with the students, candidly discussing the challenges he faced and the strategies that helped him overcome them.

Drawing from his own experience, Ventura emphasized that effective preparation goes beyond memorization. He highlighted the importance of discipline, consistency, and strong study habits. He encouraged students to organize their review schedules early, focus on understanding key concepts, and practice answering board-type questions to become familiar with the exam format. Among the practical techniques he shared were managing time wisely, identifying weak areas for improvement, and maintaining a positive mindset throughout the review period. Perseverance and determination, he stressed, were crucial to his success.

In addition to preparation strategies, Ventura offered test-taking tips that can make a significant difference during the actual exam. He advised students to carefully analyze questions, eliminate unlikely choices, and manage their time effectively to avoid unnecessary mistakes. These techniques, he noted, can help examinees perform with confidence and precision.

The seminar left participants with valuable insights, effective review methods, and renewed motivation. More than just a guide to passing the LEPT, the session served as a source of inspiration—reminding future educators that with the right preparation, discipline, and mindset, success is within reach. As the next batch of graduating BEED and BSED students, attendees were encouraged to remain focused on their goals and to approach the licensure examination with confidence and determination.
