Preparing for the Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) is one of the most significant milestones in the journey of every pre-service teacher. In support of this goal, the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) Program conducted the seminar “BEACON Forward: Empowering Future Educators for LEPT Success – Smart Preparation and Strategic Test-Taking for Board Excellence.” The activity was implemented under the BEACON Series of the BSED Program, a curriculum innovation that promotes excellence, leadership, and professional readiness among future educators.

The seminar forms part of the Capstone Seminar Leadership and Special Topics in Teacher Education, a culminating professional preparation activity for fourth-year BSED pre-service teachers who are currently undergoing their teaching internship in cooperating public schools and in the university laboratory schools. As a final requirement in the 3-unit course Seminars with Special Topics, the pre-service teachers were grouped and tasked to plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a student development program aligned with current teacher education updates and professional preparation for the teaching profession.

The invited resource speaker, Darthon Q. Ventura, LPT, a BSEd English alumnus who recently passed the 2025 LEPT with an impressive rating of 92.20, shared valuable insights and practical strategies for board examination preparation. He emphasized the importance of structured review plans, effective test-taking techniques, time management, and maintaining confidence throughout the preparation process.

The seminar concluded with encouraging messages reminding future educators that success in the LEPT requires discipline, perseverance, and belief in their professional goals. Through this initiative, the BSED Program continues to empower pre-service teachers to pursue licensure with confidence and commitment to the teaching profession.
