Baguio City, Philippines – January 16, 2026 —A total of 61 student teachers from the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) and Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) programs actively participated in the 2026 Annual Students’ Congress organized by the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) at King’s College of the Philippines. The congress served as a focused professional development platform aimed at strengthening internship readiness and preparing pre-service teachers for entry into the teaching profession.

With the theme “Sulong, Guro! Preparing Future Educators for an Evolving Educational Leadership,” the congress sought to update participants on developments in the Teacher Education Program (TEP), enhance mastery of learner-centered and demonstration teaching strategies, deepen understanding of recent K–12 curriculum enhancements, strengthen professional communication and personal branding, and introduce technology-powered assessment tools aligned with 21st-century teaching competencies.

The day-long activity featured six concise yet impactful sessions led by education experts who discussed future-ready teaching, classroom management, real-world learning, curriculum alignment, professional ethics, and technology-enhanced evaluation. These sessions provided student teachers with practical insights and skills directly applicable to their upcoming teaching internships.
Adding inspiration to the academic discussions, student teachers from the University of Baguio performed “A Million Dreams” during the intermission, symbolizing shared aspirations and collective commitment to the teaching vocation.

Aligned with the University’s teacher education programs’ academic year theme, BEACON: Becoming Empowered Advocates of Competence and Outcomes through Nurturing Learning Communities, the congress reinforced the University of Baguio’s commitment to outcomes-based education and continuous professional development. By engaging pre-service teachers in collaborative learning, updated pedagogies, and technology-enhanced practices, the activity nurtured empowered, competent, and future-ready educators prepared to thrive in an evolving educational landscape.
