Baguio City, January 22, 2025 – In a pivotal step towards shaping the future of education, the Department of Education’s Schools Division of Baguio City hosted an online orientation for pre-service teachers from the University of Baguio (UB), University of the Cordilleras (UC), and Baguio Central University (BCU) on Wednesday morning. The event, conducted via Zoom, aimed to equip these aspiring educators with the knowledge and skills necessary for their upcoming teaching internships.
The orientation kicked off at 8:30 AM, gathering students from various programs of the University of Baguio including Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED), Bachelor of Secondary Education majoring in English (BSED Eng), and Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED). With a focus on practical application and professional development, the session prepared participants for the challenges they will face in real classroom settings.

Access to Learning Resources: Dr. Loida C. Mangangey provided valuable links to free educational materials available through DepEd’s official portals. This resource-sharing aims to empower teachers with tools that enhance their instructional capabilities.

Commitment to Quality Education
This orientation aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all. By preparing pre-service teachers effectively, the initiative contributes significantly to enhancing educational quality in Baguio City and beyond.
Moreover, the training supports various competencies outlined in Domain 1: Content Knowledge and Pedagogy of the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). This domain emphasizes the mastery of content knowledge and its application across curriculum areas while incorporating effective teaching strategies and communication skills essential for high-quality learning outcomes.
Looking Ahead
As these pre-service teachers prepare to embark on their out-campus teaching internships across various public schools in Baguio City, they carry with them not only knowledge but also a commitment to making a meaningful impact on their students’ lives. With guidance from experienced mentors and a solid foundation laid during this orientation, they are poised to inspire the next generation of learners in their communities.
