Going to Thailand has always been very exciting for me, and I felt truly happy the moment my application was approved, and I finally flew to Khon Kaen. My first time in Thailand was an unforgettable experience. One of the most beautiful things about being here is that, despite it being a foreign country, it felt surprisingly familiar. In many ways, Thailand resembles the Philippines, which made me feel comfortable and at home.

The weather was pleasant, with the cool breeze of February, while the people were warm and hospitable. The teachers were courteous and accommodating, yet very engaging. It almost felt like a family reunion with distant relatives, even though it was only our first day spending time together. I also had the opportunity to meet school directors who are alumni of UB, which I found particularly interesting and meaningful, as it further strengthened the sense of connection between our institutions.

Beyond the excitement of cultural exchange, this experience also made me more aware of how education connects to the broader goals of sustainable development. Being in Thailand allowed me to see how learning, language, and intercultural understanding contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) and Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10). By helping learners improve their English skills, I am not only supporting their academic growth but also equipping them with tools that can open doors to global opportunities. At the same time, cultural exchange fosters mutual respect and understanding, which are essential in building inclusive and sustainable communities. This experience reminds me that education is not limited to the classroom—it is a shared responsibility that helps bridge cultures and promotes cooperation across borders.

I am looking forward to learning more about the Thai language and culture, and I am equally excited to share the customs and traditions of the Philippines. We were told that many Thai people are still developing their English proficiency, and as a BA English Language student, I hope to help them improve their English skills—this is, after all, what I am trained and passionate to do. This has been a wonderful first day. I hope to bring home the beauty of Thai culture and traditions that I will learn during my stay, and I also hope to leave a meaningful mark on the Thai people I will encounter by sharing the beauty of Filipino culture.
