Last November 7, 2025, the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science faculty member Mr. Jose Dela Cruz discussed with the parents of Mabini Elementary School some key points on the 10 rights of children. During the 2nd General SPTA (Student, Parents, Teachers Association) Assembly, the lecture defined who are considered as children and listed the 10 Universal Rights of Children as given by the United Nations.
Discussions also clearly defined actions that delineate abuse from proper discipline. Through some illustrations of several cases, the important parts were easily pictured. One key point mentioned was on how parents can connect with their children—through common language and different strategies such as learning about what children are playing and talking about.

Additionally, the Politis Organization, the program’s student organization, created an infographic that listed down the 10 rights of a child. Through this lecture and activity, the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science were able to extend their expertise through catchy infographics and simple lectures to the community.

Due to the success of the activity, the recipient school requested for a tailored-fit lecture elementary students on the same topic.
Through the initiative of the Community, Outreach, Extension-Coordinator Mr. Norman Patiang, this endeavor aims to strengthen the extension services of the university by engaging faculty members to share their expertise to partner schools. It also aligns with UB’s commitment to promote quality education beyond the university thereby contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Goal #4: Quality Education and Goal #17: Partnerships for the Goals.
