Reaching STELAR Heights: UB STELA Holds First Leadership Summit 2025

The School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) of the University of Baguio marked a meaningful milestone as it successfully held its first-ever Leadership Summit on September 6, 2025, at the Centennial Building with the theme “Reaching STELAR Heights.”

What made the event significant was not only that it was the first of its kind, but also the story behind STELA itself. Once divided into two schools-the School of Teacher Education (STE) and the School of Liberal Arts (SLAS)-they are now united under one banner. With eight programs gathered together, STELA showed that diversity is not a limitation but a source of strength.

The summit highlighted that true leadership is not about titles or positions, but about listening, respecting others, and working together despite differences. Students demonstrated their dedication to excellence, proving that even with varied backgrounds, they can stand as one community with a shared passion for growth and service.

A highlight of the event was the workshop facilitated by Mr. Lee Nico Emiliano, a proud student leader during his school days and now a dedicated faculty member of the University of Baguio as well as the STELA Student Body adviser. He encouraged students to open up, share their experiences, and appreciate the perspectives of others. His engaging session fostered an atmosphere of genuine learning and collaboration, where voices from different programs blended into one inspiring dialogue.

More than just a gathering, the 1st STELA Leadership Summit became a celebration of unity and purpose. It served as a reminder that when passion and leadership come together, barriers are broken and greater heights can be reached. Truly, STELA has begun its journey toward soaring higher-together.

As Emanuel Cleaver once said, “There is more power in unity than in division.”
