Mabini Elementary School Steals the Spotlight with STELA’s Outreach Glow-Up

cture Apolinario Mabini Elementary School buzzing with new life—its classrooms gleaming with fresh paint, its fences standing tall in vibrant colors, and its spaces sparkling clean. On March 22, 2025, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., this beloved school became the heart of a special outreach effort by the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) from the University of Baguio. The school transformed into a brighter, happier place—a perfect stage for its students to shine!

Mabini Elementary didn’t just get a facelift; it got a boost to become an even better home for learning. Classrooms, fences, and common areas were repainted and scrubbed down, creating a space that inspires kids every day. This wasn’t just about looks—it was about making the school a star player in education. Tied to big goals like the United Nations’ SDGs, the effort supported Quality Education (SDG 4) with a cozier learning spot, Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11) by keeping the school thriving, and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through a community win. The school staff couldn’t stop smiling, and feedback confirmed it: Mabini Elementary now feels fresh and welcoming!

Even with challenges like tight time, low paint supplies, and tricky weather, Mabini Elementary came out on top. The STELA team adjusted on the fly—splitting tasks, grabbing extra materials, and dodging raindrops—to make sure the school shone. Looking ahead, the school could use longer touch-ups, more supplies, and regular visits to keep its sparkle. For now, Mabini Elementary School stands proud—a shining example of how a little care can turn a school into a superstar for its kids and community!
