A successful First Aid Skills Workshop, entitled “Bandaging and Basic Life Support Made Easy”, was held at the UB FGB Hall on February 24, 2025, equipping students with essential life-saving skills to aid them in their prospects. The event was a collaboration between the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) and the School of Nursing (SON), providing participants with hands-on training in emergency response techniques.
The four-hour workshop focused on bandaging techniques and Basic Life Support (BLS), with experienced facilitators from the School of Nursing guiding students through real-life emergency scenarios. Participants practiced critical first-aid procedures, including CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), the proper use of AED (Automated External Defibrillators) and proper handling of injured individuals using a triangular bandage technique. The training emphasized quick thinking, precision, and teamwork in high-pressure situations.

The workshop directly addressed the need to enhance student preparedness in handling medical emergencies, contributing to a safer campus environment. UB’s commitment to holistic education extends beyond academic excellence, encompassing the development of skills that benefit both the individual and the wider community. By learning these skills, students are better prepared to assist anyone in need, potentially saving lives.

The First Aid Skills Workshop was a great success, with students actively participating and demonstrating a clear interest in learning these life-saving techniques. The University of Baguio continues to prioritize the well-being of its students and the community, giving value to safety, preparedness, responsibility and collaboration. The workshop serves as an example of this commitment, ensuring that students are not only academically proficient but also prepared to contribute to the well-being of their community.
