Muang Phon, Khon Kaen, Thailand | January 25, 2025 – Pre-service teachers from the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA) of the University of Baguio (UB), alongside the executives, faculty, and staff from Krasae Pattana (KSP) and Phon Commercial and Technical College (PCTC), had the rare opportunity to meet Professor Dr. Krasae Chanawongse, a respected Thai educator, philanthropist, and public servant. As the founder of the College of Asian Scholars (CAS), PCTC, and KSP, Dr. Chanawongse has dedicated his life to education, humanitarian efforts, and national development. The exchange program underscored the significance of global academic collaboration and leadership in shaping future educators.

During the meeting, Dr. Chanawongse welcomed the students, commending their pursuit of international learning. He shared his ‘4Ls of Leadership’ – Live, Love, Learn, and Legacy, emphasizing that leadership is not about authority but about inspiring and uplifting others. He reinforced the role of compassion in leadership, stating, “No Love, No Leadership, therefore leadership is Love.” He says true leaders foster strong relationships built on empathy, kindness, and service.

Highlighting the importance of diversity, he stated, “Different makes progress.” He encouraged students to embrace cultural differences and fresh perspectives, explaining that innovation thrives in diverse environments. He stressed that meaningful development comes from open-minded collaboration, where cultural exchange fosters understanding and a more connected world.

Dr. Chanawongse, a recipient of the 1973 Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership, has long advocated for education and international cooperation. His strong ties with the Philippines reflect his commitment to global learning and cross-cultural partnerships. His words left a lasting impression on the students, reinforcing the value of leadership, compassion, and lifelong learning.

The collaboration between CAS and UB continues to champion the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). By fostering educational exchanges, both institutions strengthen global ties and provide students with transformative learning experiences.

For the pre-service teachers, the meeting with Dr. Krasae Chanawongse was an inspiring milestone, encouraging them to embrace leadership, cultural appreciation, and a lifelong dedication to education and service.
