Equipping educators with tools to thrive under pressure.
On September 19, 2024, the University of Baguio’s School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts hosted a groundbreaking seminar titled “Effective Stress Management Strategies for Educators.” Led by renowned educator and psychologist Dr. Susie Bangles-Baldo, PhD, the 1.5-hour session provided actionable strategies to help educators navigate the growing challenges of their profession.

The event, a collaborative effort between the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) and Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) programs, emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to shared challenges in education. Faculty members gained insights into managing workloads, maintaining emotional resilience, and fostering work-life balance.
Dr. Bangles-Baldo identified key stressors in the teaching profession, such as emotional exhaustion and the complexities of addressing diverse student needs. She guided attendees through mindfulness techniques, time management strategies, and self-care practices, underscoring their importance for long-term well-being.
Interactive discussions allowed participants to exchange experiences and insights, fostering a sense of community among faculty members. The seminar’s collaborative nature highlighted the value of cross-program initiatives in strengthening bonds within the academic community.

The session concluded with a poignant message from Dr. Bangles-Baldo: managing stress is both an individual and institutional responsibility. She urged educators to prioritize self-care and called on institutions to provide environments that support mental health and professional sustainability.
This seminar marked a significant step toward promoting well-being and resilience among educators, reaffirming the University of Baguio’s commitment to excellence in teaching and faculty development.
