UB Alumna Dominates Muay Thai World Rankings

Cordilleran fighter and UB alumna Ms. Islay Erika Bomogao claimed victory at the -45kg female elite category of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA), securing the number one spot and cementing her place as a world-class athlete.

She garnered 1,920 points in her division following another win in Australia just a few weeks prior. She also finished in first place in the WC2023 Bangkok IFMA and finished in third place in the WC2024 PATRAS IFMA Senior World Championships.

Ms. Bomogao has had a long and storied career in the sport, having earned multiple accolades in past competitions for her hard work and dedication. In 2017 she secured a gold medal at the Jincheon 1st World Youth Martial Arts Masterships in South Korea, and in 2018 she also won a gold medal at the 2018 IFMA Youth World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. 

Hailing from Benguet, Ms. Bomogao is a recent graduate of the University of Baguio. Having finished her collegiate education only last year, she is a proud holder of a Bachelor of Physical Education and is a licensed secondary teacher.
